How the CompareWise extension uses product data

This page describes the functionality of CompareWise Companion version 1.1.0. Last updated 10 October 2026.

What is read

On supported retailer product pages, the extension reads the publicly displayed product title and any structured GTIN/barcode identifier present on the page. It also identifies the retailer. It does not ask for or read your passwords, payment details, or shopping-cart contents.

What is sent

For comparison lookups, the extension sends the product title, any available GTIN, and retailer identifier to CompareWise’s server at goafishmarket.com/cw_shop_match.php. This request is made when a recognised product page is opened or its contents change. The extension does not send the full page content to that endpoint.

What is displayed

CompareWise may return matched retailer links or related promotions. A same-product match is identified only when supported by a verified product identifier in CompareWise’s catalogue. Retailer link clicks may use affiliate tracking.

Retention, logs and third parties

Standard website/server access logs may record IP address, lookup URL parameters, and timestamps. These logs are managed by the website operator and hosting provider. Links you choose to follow may be handled by the corresponding retailer or affiliate-link provider under their own policies. No extension account is required to use the comparison footer.

Your controls

The footer can be closed on any supported product page. You can disable or remove the extension from chrome://extensions. For questions about this extension, use the contact information on the CompareWise website.
